EXUMA TRAVEL GUIDE: Sandbars and Snorkeling Thunderball Grotto

This was another amazing stop on our boat tour. You can read more about the boat tour we went on here, here, and here. I know I have said this before but if you go to Exuma you HAVE to do one of these boat tours! This was such an awesome experience. This was the best snorkeling spot we have ever been to and we do A LOT of snorkeling. I’m sure you can tell from the pics that there were a ton of fish. They gave us food to feed them which was really fun and they were all swarming around us. We were the only people there too which was nice. The boys always surprise me at how brave they are when we are on our little adventures and they of course jumped in without hesitation. They are fearless and always making me proud.

This spot is most well know for the James Bond movie “Thunderball” that was filmed here and “Never Say Never Again”. “Splash” (which just happens to be one of my favorite movies of all time) was also filmed here as well as “Into the blue”.  It really doesn’t look like much from the outside but once you swim through a small opening there is this incredibly beautiful cave with all of these colorful fish and a stream of light coming through an opening in the top. Jonathan has been diving for basically his entire life so he swam through a few of the underwater caves to get to the other side. He got an awesome video on our GoPro that I will incorporate into the vlog of our trip when I get around to doing that.

While we were out snorkleing the boat captains made us fresh conch salad and it was soooo good! My boys even gobbled it up and they don’t usually like stuff like that.

Another stop we made on the boat tour was this gorgeous sandbar.

Baywatch run

Liam “lost at sea”. He cracks me up.

This was the perfect spot to stop on our way back. The boys loved running and playing with the soft sand and we were just enjoying the beautiful scenery. There are often starfish here but we didn’t see any this day.

Believe it or not I still have MORE to post from this trip! I will be working on the rest of my posts today and tomorrow along with a few other fashion related posts and then Friday we are heading to Disney for a quick 2 day trip. July is probably one of the worst times to go to Disney (it’s going to be soooo hot) but we are just way too excited about Toy Story Land to wait and Liam really wanted to go for his birthday.

I had a lot of people ask me about my swimsuit so I linked to a few similar ones. This one is a Dupe that I got on amazon for $12! It’s actually one of my favorite and best fitting bikinis. It is also reversible to black and I got it in yellow too which is reversible to white. Enjoy the rest of your week!

Spread the love
