TROPICAL DECOR

Tropical Home Decor

I have always been drawn to bright colors, palm trees, and pineapples and really anything tropical. These are a few of my favorite tropical home decor pieces right now. These would be great to update your home for summer or if you are like me and just love tropical all the time. We moved about 9 months ago so I took that as an opportunity to get rid of a lot of stuff and finally start decorating our new home with my own style instead of just having odds and end of mismatched stuff that we kind of accumulated over the years. And don’t get me wrong…I don’t like things to be all matchy matchy….the mismatched things are often what gives your home the most personality.  I have always loved tropical decor but often shied away from a lot if it because it didn’t really go with things we already had so this time around I have been going with very basic background colors with sort of a mid century modern beachy feel so I can add in my tropical pops of color.

I just got that banana leaf quilt and it is my favorite! We had a plain white one before and as soon as I put it on our bed it added so much color to our otherwise kind of plain room. Exactly the tropical vibes I was going for.

We have white sofas (I know what you are thinking right now….HOW do you have anything white when you have 2 boys, 2 cats, and a husband?!? Haha. ) They are some sort of man-made leather-like material that wipes off pretty easily. Fabric doesn’t do well in our house. 😉 Anyway, I got the banana leaf pillows for my sofas and they add the perfect amount of tropical without being too much. They go great with white! I also added the pineapple bookends in my home office. I have kind of a white, wood, mid century modern-ish thing going on in there and I have a lot of gold accents too so they go perfectly! I think the key to decorating your home and really finding your “style” is to do it slowly and add a little at a time and don’t be afraid to mix styles. Thanks for reading! Have a great night!
