Feeding the stingrays at Chat ‘N’ Chill is another thing to add to your bucket list if you are going to Exuma. We stayed here for a few hours and the boys were having so much fun they didn’t want to leave. These are “wild” stingrays so they do have their barbs but they are very friendly and used to being around people. They will swarm around you if they think you have food so you just have to watch where you step. There is no cost to feed them. Just hop in the water, grab a few pieces of conch scraps from the conch bar and they will eat right out of your hands. Some of them are HUGE and kind of intimidating but they are all so sweet. My boys were having the time of their lives playing with them and feeding them. They will let you pet them and even swim right into your lap. We really could have stayed here all day. Chat ‘N’ Chill is on Stocking Island so you have to take a water taxi to get there and then getting back you kind of just have to wait until another water taxi comes by to take people back. I think they are supposed to come by every hour on the hour to take people back or at least that’s what they told us. I would definitely schedule at least half a day for this and try not to do it on a day that you have to be somewhere else later at a specific time since people are generally on “island time” here and your water taxi back may be 30 + minutes late so you don’t want to be stressing if you have something else going on that day. On Sundays, Chat ‘N’ Chill has a pig roast that I have heard is amazing but we didn’t get to go on Sunday since we were out on our boat tour that day. This was definitely one of our favorite things we did on the trip and it was free except for the water taxi (and if you want to get food and drinks at Chat ‘N’ Chill). This is also a good thing to do on your way back from Little Exuma if you drive over there to see some of the beaches in the morning. We went to the beaches on Little Exuma in the morning and grabbed lunch at Tropic Breeze (and some goodies from Mom’s Bakery) and then headed over to feed the stingrays after lunch. You can read more about Little Exuma here. This is definitely an unforgettable experience. My boys must have asked us if we could go back here at least 20 times and we totally would have if we would’ve had time.
He made friends with this one and it kept following him and trying to play. They were really so sweet and reminded me of cats or dogs the way they were playing and asking for food.
Looks like so much fun! I freaked out when I swam with them! Lol. Glad you all enjoyed it! Thanks for sharing all the details.
